Key Focus Areas:

• Source, negotiate with and manage relationships with transport service providers, acting as the focal point for suppliers
• Design and standardise transport solutions tailored to client requirements
• Manage supplier contracts and liabilities in conjunction with legal, and ensure consistent, complete quotations
• Standardise operating procedures and monitor supplier performance against agreed measures
• Secure competitive rates and services while ensuring compliance with internal procedures
• Provide booking forecasts and report on procurement and transporter performance
• Flag relevant market intelligence and operational issues to management
• Drive strategic objectives and consistent performance across the cluster

Requirements:

• Matric plus a degree in Logistics or equivalent
• 5+ years' freight forwarding experience covering import/export and cross-trade across air, road and sea cargo
• Experience with pharmaceutical temperature-controlled goods
• Proficiency in MS Office and transport management systems (TMS)
• A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to manage supplier relationships
• Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence up to board level
• Sound knowledge of the road transport business, locally and internationally
