Full Job Description

Key Focus Areas:
• Receive and process air freight booking requests from freight forwarders and customers
• Check available capacity, flight schedules, routings, cut-off times and applicable restrictions
• Liaise with airline operations and cargo departments to secure required capacity
• Confirm bookings and provide accurate flight, routing and cut-off information, daily departure confirmation update to Agents.
• Monitor bookings from confirmation through to uplift
• Follow up on no-shows, rollovers, delays, offloads and changes to bookings
• Coordinate booking amendments, cancellations and re-bookings where required
• Ensure all relevant shipment information is captured accurately
• Liaise with freight forwarders regarding cargo readiness, documentation and delivery cut-offs
• Provide information regarding rates, schedules, routings and available capacity, where applicable
• Maintain accurate booking records and operational reports
• Assist with resolving booking and service-related queries
• Escalate operational issues to the relevant airline or management team
• Maintain professional relationships with freight forwarders, airline representatives and other stakeholders
• Ensure all activities comply with airline procedures, cargo requirements and company policies

Minimum Requirements:
• 2–4 years' experience within the air freight / air cargo industry
• Previous experience in airline cargo, GSA or freight forwarding environment
• Sound knowledge of air freight booking processes and terminology
• Experience dealing with freight forwarders and airline cargo departments
• Knowledge of major airline routes, schedules and cargo capacity
• Strong computer literacy, including MS Office
• Experience with cargo booking or airline systems would be advantageous (Cargospot, COS)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
• Matric / Grade 12 required; relevant logistics qualification advantageous
• ATA procedures and air waybill processes
• Dangerous Goods awareness
• Perishable, pharmaceutical or other specialised air cargo (documentation requirements for Perishable, Pharma, Flowers etc.)
• Export documentation and cargo acceptance procedures
• Capacity management and flight planning
• Handling airline schedule changes and cargo disruptions
