Key Focus Areas:

• MUST be Asian and need to be able to read, write and speak Mandarin. Freight forwarding and logistics experience is required.

• Provide input to Air and Ocean Procurement on product development and trade lane strategy.
• Plan and execute International Sales Visits (ISVs) locally and internationally.
• Coordinate Consignee Selling Trips (CSTs), including incoming CST visits.
• Develop trade lane awareness through presentations, sales tools, pricing guides, cheat sheets and marketing materials.
• Support and develop local sales teams through joint customer calls and product training.
• Escalate pricing, market and target-account issues to Procurement.
• Monitor and report on market trends, competitor activity, pricing and product performance.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Identify and visit prospective customers, including bi-annual sales trips to the Far East.
• Monitor shipments and service levels for VIP and key accounts.
• Negotiate competitive rates and support commercial opportunities.
• Manage Global Trade Lane calls, meetings and stakeholder engagements.
• Monitor trade lane performance, results and stakeholder engagement.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Management System and applicable procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
• BCom Degree in Sales, Marketing, or a related field; NQF Level 7 qualification.
• Grade 12 / Matric with Higher Grade Mathematics and English.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Clearing & Forwarding industry.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the international transportation industry, with progressively increasing responsibilities.
• Minimum 5 years’ professional sales experience, with exposure to global trade lanes, particularly Asia.
• Strong knowledge of servicing and marketing principles and practices.
• Knowledge of international trade principles and practices.
• Understanding of the external business environment and commercial opportunities.
• Knowledge of service charge rates, tariff calculations and company payment terms.
• Working knowledge of CRM systems and Incoterms.
• Understanding of carrier and depot conditions of trade.
• Knowledge of national currencies and international currency codes.
• Computer literate, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong presentation, negotiation and business development skills.
• Customer-focused with a strong client and service orientation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, judgement and decision-making abilities.
• Creative and innovative thinker with a proactive approach.
• Strong action and results orientation.
